Your rights and responsibilities when using SteadyStack's website and publications.

Last updated: March 25, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SteadyStack website at steadystack.ca and your subscription to The Mission Economy newsletter (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing our website or subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the applicable laws of Canada.

1. About SteadyStack

SteadyStack is a Canadian company that builds infrastructure for mission-driven organizations. Our current public services consist of the SteadyStack website and The Mission Economy, a free weekly newsletter for Canadian non-profits, funders, and social investors.

2. Use of the Website

You may use steadystack.ca for lawful purposes only. You agree not to:

  • Use the website in any way that violates applicable Canadian federal or provincial laws or regulations
  • Reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, or exploit any portion of the website or its content for commercial purposes without our express written consent
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the website or its underlying systems
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract content from the website in bulk
  • Transmit any material that is defamatory, offensive, or otherwise objectionable

3. The Mission Economy Newsletter

Subscription

The Mission Economy is a free weekly newsletter. By subscribing, you provide express consent under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) to receive commercial electronic messages from SteadyStack. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any issue or by contacting us at hello@steadystack.ca.

Content

The Mission Economy provides intelligence and information about Canadian grants, funders, sector policy, and operations resources. The content is for informational purposes only and does not constitute professional legal, financial, or fundraising advice. You should not rely on newsletter content as the sole basis for any funding application, organizational decision, or compliance action without independent verification.

Grant deadlines, eligibility criteria, and funder priorities change frequently. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy, we make no warranty that the information in any issue is complete, current, or error-free. Always verify grant details directly with the funding organization before submitting an application.

Accuracy and Currency

SteadyStack takes reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of information published in The Mission Economy. However, we cannot guarantee that all information is accurate, complete, or up to date at the time of publication. Funder priorities, grant deadlines, and policy details are subject to change without notice.

4. Intellectual Property

All content on steadystack.ca and in The Mission Economy — including text, design, graphics, and the SteadyStack and The Mission Economy names and logos — is owned by or licensed to SteadyStack and is protected by Canadian copyright law.

You may share individual newsletter items with attribution to The Mission Economy and a link to steadystack.ca. You may not reproduce full issues, repackage newsletter content for redistribution, or use our content or branding in any way that implies endorsement without our written permission.

The term "mission economy" as used by SteadyStack refers to our original framing of the broader ecosystem of mission-driven organizations, capital, and labour. Our definition and editorial content are original works.

5. Third-Party Links and Services

Our website and newsletter may contain links to third-party websites, grant portals, and funder pages. These links are provided for convenience and informational purposes only. SteadyStack has no control over the content of third-party sites and accepts no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them.

Links to grant opportunities and funder websites do not constitute an endorsement of those organizations or programs by SteadyStack.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

SteadyStack does not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that grant or funding information published in The Mission Economy is accurate, complete, or current.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable Canadian law, SteadyStack shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Services or reliance on any content published by SteadyStack, including but not limited to missed grant deadlines, unsuccessful funding applications, or decisions made based on newsletter content.

In jurisdictions that do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain types of damages, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will notify subscribers via The Mission Economy newsletter. Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Newfoundland and Labrador.
